Telemarketers, we are human too.
So you are going about the day, you happen to be the genre stuck, none futuristic person that still has a home line. Ring ring, it's the telemarketers...

From 8 am to 8 pm the only thing between you and us is a answering machine, and a robo blocker if you are the set few.

First off let me just start by saying we are human too. Working a shitty job that is emotionally damaging because, guess what? It pays the bills!

You think your job sucks? Try being yourself in the morning, getting to work and feeling like the smallest person alive. Feeling worthless with just one call. Racially abused. Mentally unstable wanting to just pull your hair out or cuss someone back out and cant?
"Hi, may I please sp-" "go f@*% yourself!" *click*

Most common: "you pieces of sh%# keep calling me!", no sir this is the first time I've called you, actually you filled out a response card requesting information from us, I just happened to be the unlucky one to call you.

2nd most common: "I'm on the do not call list!" *click* First off the DNC is not a all godly list that will stop people from calling you. It even states: "The Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls. It does not cover the following:
* calls from organizations with which you have established a business relationship;
* calls for which you have given prior written permission;
* calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements;
* calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations."
So it is on your naive dumb ass part that you filled out a form online or through the news paper response ad, and because it was back in 2009 and you don't remember, that you keep getting called. Maybe answer and listen for what it is about instead of cussing us out.

"Stop calling me son of a b*#%, stupid beaner get a real job"... Yes that's going to make me want to take your number away nicely and not call. hmmmm "Disposition caller - not available." Sucker! I'm not even Hispanic, enjoy another call.

You get angry and hang up so quick, you don't let us say what we are calling about 80% of the time, so guess what?! You are going to receive another call, and another and another, until we can properly establish, you listened to us and do not want that cremation service you requested awhile back. You do not need that make up you bought one time and checked a box saying you wanted updates. Etc, etc.

"I'm not interested" *click*
Funny thing about that no interested part. See not everyone is like me and will use common sense to say hmm okay they aren't interested, let's put them on our do not call list. See businesses train young people starting in TM that not interested just means, "hey I'm not interested.... Right now..." Let's call them a different time. Then you have some money hungry supervisor or manager that gets paid on sales so what does he do? Puts them right back in the call list a few weeks later trying to call it again.

Also "I'm not interested" *click* well what is it you are not interested in? You didn't even hear what I had to say? What if I was calling and you actually won a free vacation? Not likely, but possible. So because you didn't hear what I had to say, now I need to set a follow up call to get you at a time when you will listen. So guess what? You will get called again.

Cussing and ranting and hanging up, because we were unable to get out delivery across to you. You will be called again.

Cussing and ranting, well we can't cuss and rant you back, so we just throw you in the list hoping someone else will grab you or annoy you.

"I'm going to sue you this is harassment"
"I'm turning you in I am on the "NATIONAL" do not call list, your company will be fined! What is your name?" "nothing is free!"

Some things are free, I see you go to Costco and get samples all the time, some government programs are free(stop the argument of someone pays for it) it's free for you right here right now, we all pay taxes to fund these things so get off your horse.
You will go after the company not us we are just schmucks that are getting our job done on an hourly wage of $10-11 /hour. By the time you file a complaint and and it is seen it won't be for about 3 months to a year sitting on someone's desk. You aren't getting any money from it and the company will probably already be done having called your city. Blame the people that sell your information at consent as leads. When we are at work we are just a voice on the other side... You aren't Liam Neeson off the movie taken. So even though I sound like a man, to you, I'm a boy named sue. Don't get get high and mighty. Again, throw you back in the que to be called again is most telemarketers attitude.

The infamous call back...

Calling back and cussing me out for someone that called you, won't help. If anything approach me like a normal human being, I would like to help you resolve the issue of a wrong number or a missed call. Getting huffy right when I pick up and hanging up won't help. 1. I can't see your contact information most of the time so even if you did have a problem, I can't solve it and you will remain having your issue. 2. Telling me you have told them many times before and it is the same number, the last person that told you they would take it off didn't get a result, was probably not us. Your number is sold in bulk to telemarketers all over from stuff you coasted and filled out to geographic areas for solar companies and everyone else trying to get business. Many use the same predictive dialing programs that give them similar numbers to use for VOIP(Voice over IP - a internet based phone) it may be the same number or one digit off. Again, I would like to help you, but what you think you know or how frustrated you are, talking to me as a human being and not cussing me out based of what you feel you are sure of, will get you faster results.

Many times you probably told some other company and now a new one is calling. Others, maybe you were rude to the last person that called and as a result they put you back in the que to be called. Maybe you identified yourself as, the house sitter, the baby sitter, the sister, the care taker, the brother - if we didn't speak to the home owner it doesn't matter what you say on your *cough*, "excuse me".. Their behalf... We have to call again.

Calling back with a blocked number or different phone and ranting and hanging up before I could search a file log of the number called won't help you stop getting calls either.

So what can we learn from all of this?
Would you cuss someone out at a restaurant and expect good service? Would you yell at your barista and Starbucks and expect the drink done proper by the same person? Would you yourself do any different if treated inhuman and belittled by someone ? Respect, moral and morality are part of everyday lives and interaction but the grey area... Well that's for the little deeds saved for rude people. That person that spits in your cup, accidentally drops your food and puts it on the plate, tap water for the prissy woman that wants bottled water in a fuss ah... Human nature. Revenge is a dish best served cold...

So the do's and don'ts

DO:
Listen to what we have to say politely and get a result or just don't bother picking up your phone. (Which you may get called again)

Politely talk to us as human and not cuss us out and hang up.(which you may get called again)

Call back with the number we called on or stay on the phone long enough to understand that we need that number to figure out a result. Not just hang up.

DO NOT:
Pretend you are someone else, just say it's you and be polite or don't bother picking up the phone.

Constantly say "I'm busy", we'll just assume to keep calling until you are not busy and will listen.

Cuss us out the minute you answer. Being degrading and racist will also lead to a recorded call that if We wanted to, could take you to court for mental damages.

Use the words "NOT INTERESTED" especially if you didn't even give me the time of day to talk, how do you know you aren't? Or simply say, I don't need it or please just remove me from your call list. AFTER you listened to us WE will listen to you.

Rave and rant about the godly DNC list.

Say "I'm driving" or "busy" or etc. if that is the case then why are you even picking up the phone? Simply let it go to voice mail or pick up listen for 30 seconds give us a answer and never be bothered again.
